Chaparral
The Chaparral is a shrubby area, found normally along the coast. It has hot summers and cool and rainy winters. It mostly consists of places with tall shrubs, with patches of places with small trees, or wood oak. The annual rainfall is between 15 and 40 inches. The average temperature is normally about 50 degrees, and it normally experiences droughts in the summer.
They are mainly located between 30 and 40 degrees north and south of the equator. It is located in places like California, the Mediterranean, the coast of Chili and Australia, and the Cape region of South Africa.
Plant and Animal Life
The animals of the Chaparral include Aardvark, Quail, Coyote, Goat, Owl, Lynx, Mountain Lion, Rattlesnake, Scorpion, Tuatara, and Wallaby. The plant life includes Yucca, Silk-Tassel Bush, Shrub Oak, Red Shanks, and Chaparral Pea. Forest fires are common, and species actually rely on them, however with more and more human interaction, forest fires are happening to often. Also, people are building over the Chaparral, so it is decreasing in size.
