Climate
The Coniferous Forest is made from mostly piny tree’s that have needles for leaves. They annually get between 300 and 900 millimeters of precipitation a year. The average temperature is between 40 and 30 degrees. They have long, cold, snowy winter seasons, and humid summers. They normally receive four to six months of frost-free season. There are two types of the forest, dense forests who is too dense to have
sunlight hit the ground, or open woodlands, whose trees are spaced widely apart.
Plant and Animal Life
The vegetation is made of coniferous-evergreen trees that produce cones and needles. Most of these needles stay on all year long. Some types of these trees include spruces, pines, and furs. The animals include Artic Fox, Artic Hare, Badger, Canada Goose, Caribou, Deer, Earthworm, Ermine, Husky, Lemming, Moose, Mosquito, Muskrat, Scorpion, Snowy Owl, Wolf, and Wolverine. These animals have to learn to adapt to the cold weather that happens during the winters.
Location
It is the largest biome on earth, covering 50 million acres, or about 17% of the land area. It is mostly located between 50 and 60 degrees north and in places like Asia, North America, and Europe. It is also common in high elevations of mountains.
Issues
Although they occupy a large place on earth, the forests are still starting to get depleted. This happens through unsustainable forestry, road construction, and building cites that destroy the forests.
